Child: What's for dinner tonight?
宝宝：今天晚上吃什么呀？Mom: Spaghetti with meat sauce.
妈妈：意大利肉酱面。Child: I love spaghetti night!
宝宝：我喜欢意大利面之夜！
Mom: It's almost ready.
妈妈：快做好了。Do you want to set the table?
你想负责摆餐具吗？中文说摆餐具，但英文用set the table-布置桌子。
We'll need plates, forks, and napkins.
我们需要盘子、叉子和餐巾。
Child: OK.
宝宝：好的。What are the ingredients?
里面都有什么呀？Ingredients指原料，这里的翻译根据中文语言习惯编写。
Mom: Spaghetti, ground beef, onion, garlic, green bell pepper, tomatoes, olive oil, basil, salt and pepper.
妈妈：意大利细面、牛肉馅、洋葱、大蒜、青椒、西红柿、橄榄油、罗勒、盐和胡椒。
Child: I always have a hard time eating spaghetti.
宝宝：我吃意大利面老是吃不好。
Mom: It takes time to get good at eating it.
妈妈：多练练就能吃好了。Child: Can you tell me how to get them on the fork again?
宝宝：你能再教我一下怎么把它们弄到叉子上吗？
Mom: Take your fork
妈妈：拿起叉子，and push it down through the noodles,
往下叉到面条里，until you hit the plate.
直到碰到盘子。Then spin your fork
然后转动叉子，to get the noodles on it.
把面条卷上来。Child: It's kind of messy.
宝宝：弄得哪儿都是。Messy指脏乱的。Mom: It is,
妈妈：是的，but you'll get the hang of it eventually.
但是你最后一定能掌握的。You're doing better than the first time you ate them.
你比第一次吃的时候好多了。
Child: Can I eat spaghetti with chopsticks?
宝宝：我能用筷子吃意大利面吗？
Mom: Sure.
妈妈：当然。Hold your chopsticks like this,
像这样握住筷子，and roll the noodles onto them.
然后把面条卷到上面。Child: Are spaghetti and pasta the same thing?
宝宝：Spaghetti和pasta是一种东西吗？
Mom: No, spaghetti is a kind of pasta.
妈妈：不是的，spaghetti是pasta的一种。
There are more than 350 kinds of Italian pasta, including spaghetti, macaroni, lasagne, fettuccine, ravioli, etc.
意大利面食有350种呢，包括意大利细面、通心粉、千层面、意式宽面和意大利小方饺等等。
(1) 提到意大利面，我们首先会想到spaghetti-意大利细面，但是pasta才是各种意大利面食的统称，spaghetti只是其中一种。
(2) Spaghetti读作 [spɡeti]，macaroni读作 [?m?kr?uni]，lasagne也可以写作lasagna，读作 [lzɑ:nj?]，fettuccine读作 [?fetu?t?i:ni]，ravioli读作 [?r?viuli]。
Child: Wow!
宝宝：哇！That's a lot.
好多啊。Mom: Yeah.
妈妈：是的。Also, noodles can be made with lots of different flour.
还有，面条可以用不同的面粉来制作。
Italian noodles are made with wheat flour.
意大利面条是用小麦粉做的。
Child: How about our Chinese noodles?
宝宝：咱们中国的面条呢？Mom: Well, most of them are made of wheat,
妈妈：嗯，大多数是用小麦做的。
but rice noodles are made from rice.
但是米粉是用大米做的。We also have some noodles made of sweet potatoes and peas.
还有一些粉儿是用红薯和豌豆做的。
Also, there is a kind of Japanese noodles called soba
还有一种日式面条叫荞麦面。
that are made with buckwheat.
是用荞麦做的。表达面条是用什么面做的，made后面加of、from和with都可以。
Child: They sound interesting.
宝宝：它们听起来很有意思。
Can we try a different kind of noodle nextweek?
咱们下周吃另外一种面条吧？
Mom: Sure.
妈妈：当然。We can have a weekly noodle night.
咱们可以每周来个面条之夜。
We'll learn lots of new recipes that way.
这样可以学习很多新配方。Child: I hope they're all as delicious as spaghetti.
宝宝：希望它们都和意大利面一样美味。
